In mid-August I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Armenia to photograph Anna and Christoph’s wedding. I met the couple nearly a year ago when I photographed their civil ceremony here in Vienna. Anna immediately said she wanted to take me to Armenia (her home country) the following year for their church ceremony and big celebration. The trip also included a 5 day tour of the country with all the guests who mostly came from abroad. It was probably the most diverse country I have ever visited and the most interesting wedding I have photographed to date. And most of all I had SO MUCH FUN!

We decided to photograph the getting ready outside – so that we could have the surrounding mountains and unique hotel architecture as a backdrop …..

I LOVE LONG VEILS !!!!!!!!!

The entire wedding took place in the province of Lori in northern Armenia bordering Georgia. The ceremony took place in Haghpat Monastery, described as a masterpiece of religious architecture and a major center of learning in the middle Ages. It was built in the 10th century A.D.

A small champagne reception took place outside after the ceremony where we took portraits and a tour of the monastery.

We then headed back to the hotel where the reception took place …….. just look at the setting …. so unique … and delicious Armenian food ….

The guests picked up Armenian dancing rather quickly (I blame the cognac and vodka), and then enjoyed a wonderful firework display …….

and partied the night away …………
Thank you Anna and Christoph for inviting me on this wonderful trip and being apart of your special day…. it was a very memorable experience! xoxo
