Chontelle (Australian) and Antonio (Italian) live in Rome with their beautiful little boy Jace. They had been planning their wedding for nearly 2 years in the Calabria region where Antonio is originally from, as locations get booked up far in advance. Chontelle contacted me via my facebook page and we had a great connection and instantly knew I had to photograph her wedding. I had never been as far down south in Italy so it was also a new region to explore.
Chontelle’s biggest wish was to get married outside, as Australians do, and to respect the religious side of the wedding, they compromised on a church, the Chiesa Madonna della fontana in Spilinga, which was set into a cave! So the ceremony took place partly, if not, mostly outside. It was possibly one of the most beautiful settings for a ceremony. We headed off for portraits with the bridal party in Tropea, a great vibrant town famous for its chillies overlooking the Calabrian coastline and its crystal clear beaches.
Thank you so much for having myself and Heidi, we never had so much fun at a wedding!
